I am a native of La Paz, Bolivia and currently live in Boulder, Colorado. I run Sergio Ballivian Photography as well as Explore Bolivia, a tour operator that leads adventure travel and photographic trips to Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Argentina. I have been making images for over 28 years and I continue to make images of this world, whether nearby or across the world.
I am a photographer, entrepreneur, and adventure traveler and an active participant on a journey in life. Living, traveling and studying in various countries with diverse cultural roots and histories has been a catalyst for my images. It's interesting to note when I started down this path, the grand landscape was what drew me to photography. I just wanted to remember those amazing moments when I was in the middle of nowhere, standing there breathlessly, looking around and saying to myself, "...I can't believe this is so incredibly beautiful!". So, I can't draw, I can't sing and I can't dunk a basketball but I can make photos, so that's what I do. By the way I can dance!
I see the world as a narrative of pictures and am heavily influenced by color, shapes, scale and the story within an image. It is impossible to capture that "one moment" twice. Either you got it or not. I truly believe there is power in photography and the possibility to influence change by capturing the right image. I capture the art of living, cultural experiences, natural history, adventure travel and man in his environment... and that one moment in time where I am in the right place, at the right time, for the right reasons.
My images have been used by a variety of clients from magazines to book publishers and custom print makers to AD agencies to graphic design firms to individual fine art collectors. I am represented by a variety of stock agencies and I also license images directly.

I am an adventure, lifestyle and environmental photographer based out Seaside, Oregon. I regularly work with clients such as National Geographic Adventure, Backpacker, Outside, Men's Journal, Sunset, Mont-Bell, Patagonia, O.A.R.S, etc.
Growing up on the Oregon coast and spending time in the Hawaiian Islands at an early age, I was immersed from the time I could barely walk into the world of travel, mountains and ocean. Those early years planted the seeds of excitement, love and respect for experiencing the natural world and finding adventure within it as well as laying a healthy foundation for a chronic case of wanderlust. So whether I’m hiking up an obscure Pacific Northwest river, searching for elusive winter steelhead, driving three days straight down mainland Mexico in search of homemade tortillas, warm water and empty waves, or waking up at 4:30am on a -5 degree winter morning to capture the alpenglow on a high mountain peak, I’m always excited to "be there."
My goal visually, is to share the extraordinary people, hilarious moments, and amazing beauty which I come across on my journeys and at the same time, show the absolute necessity of saving and preserving our natural world for its own sake as well as future generations to enjoy and experience.
I am represented by a variety of stock agencies and am also a member of 1% for the Planet and The Conservation Alliance.

People are a prominent part of Kevin's images - people in motion, action, adventure, and outdoor lifestyle. A passionate photographer, his positive attitude and creative drive lead to authentic revealing moments whether captured or created. His use of simple, quiet yet dynamic compositions in often unexpected or quirky settings are just part of his visual story.
From a bank of strobes on studio seamless to location productions hanging from ropes on the faces of Mt. Rushmore, Kevin is easy going and confident in his talent - capturing images that honor the beauty of the world and the experiences of people with a zest for life.
Shooting since High School, a passion for climbing led to early images for catalogs and magazines. Time spent in the business world of technology, marketing and sales taught him the importance of bringing home the goods. In 2003 word of mouth brought a national advertising client - the shoots were complex, fun, engaging and a big success.
"After school in New York, Linda and I landed in California after taking the Jeep CJ cross country and happily stuck. We live in Santa Barbara with cats, fish and growing boys. I don't have that Jeep anymore but recently picked up a 1986 CJ-7. It puts a smile on my face. I couldn't imagine living anywhere but where mountains meet ocean. The outdoor life and photography are my passions."
Kevin is a professional who is a true creative partner with the client and art director, always delivering, often surprising.
